Born Stronger

I have played all kinds of sports throughout my life and have dedicated myself to that sport. The sport that I have had the most passion for is wrestling which I participated for 14 years and still help out at the local wrestling clubs. In the last 2 years I was introduced to the MMA by a family friend because of my wrestling. I didn't know what to think at first because I was never the fighting type, I had never been in a fight before and I was always know as the nice guy. When I had my first fight, the people that had been following in my wrestling career had came and cheered me on. I believe fighting is not meant to release your anger on someone else. It's a battle of strength, endourance, and passion. I have always taken everything into my own hands, my mom taught me that, and I have never changed that. My favorite thing about MMA is the companionship, when you train with your team mates, whether you have a fight or you team mate has a fight, you have the same respect for each other and you'll help eachother get ready for their fight. It is the greatest feeling when you are supported by everyone around you. It gives you this feeling that you can't get anywhere else; its hard to describe, but you will know it when you feel it. Fighting has became a part of my everyday life and I love every second of it. I have a record of 5-1 right now and I owe that to my gym, family, and friends for all the support. If i didn't have that support I wouldn't be BORN STRONGER!

stronger

Hi my name is trevor i was born and raised in georgia. At the age of four i started  wrestling for my local youth wrestling team, that year i placed third in state. Wrestling is a family tradition all the guys in my family wrestled all theway back to my great grandfather. I continued wrestling all the way to high school, but in the eighth grade i was injured wrestling on the football field. The doctor said that i had a hollow hip bone in my right hip and perthes disease in my left hip. That summer i had to udergo surgery for a bone marrow transplant they insertd a big plate into my leg and put in four screws. In my left hip they did not know what to do because the ball of my hip had taken on a deformed shape and was flattening. Due to the injuries i had to sit out my entire freshman season and coould not train. It took till the summer of my freshman year before the doctor cleared me to wrestle and he said to me trevor you realize that doing this sport is gonna cause you to have hip replacment surgery later on in life and i said yes doctor i understand the implications of my actions. The doctor also stated i could no longer run which you need to do for cardio for wrestling. So all this summer i began an intense weight lifting and training program besides my wrestling practice because when i step onto the mat my sophmore year i dont  want be beat. Wrestling is going to be a  lot harder due to the loss of movement in both my hips so i cant move as fast and my legs are not as strong as before. But i will not quit what i love even if i my have to have a replacment surgery for my hip and i believe that is what makes me stronger than normal.

I Have Been Born Stronger

I always had a little bit of fight in my family. My dad was a wrestler who made it to state and won 2nd and my grandfather was a boxer. I was always athletic as a kid but then I turned 5 years old. I was diagnosed with cancer at that time, a brain tumor at that. I saw many of my friends die due to brain tumors, which in fact my grandfather died from a year ago. After this I realized that I had to be alive for a reason, I felt like I had been reborn. I recovered eventually but it left me with ataxia in my right side. which means it is difficult to perform certain muscular movements. it also stunted my growth, preventing me from producing growth hormones. After I recoved I took up wrestling in middle school. I wasn't the best but i tried my hardest. I continued wrestling throughout middle school and into high school. During high school I also enrolled into a MMA class.  As the years went by i got even better. I placed third place in state. Right now, I am out of high school. I am not currently involved with wrestling or MMA but I am planning on becoming at professional body builder. I am current 5'3" and 150 lbs with not a bit of fat on me. Currently going to North Georgia College, I go to the gym every bit I can.

Born To Lead, Train To Succeed

I was born in a city hospital in Youngstown, Ohio, a ghetto area. My twin brother and eye were premature, and he had to much blood, and I had to little, forcing the doctors to inplant some of the blood he had into me in order to even us out. We were a blessing to our parents, whose eldest sons, also twins, died at birth a year before. Raised up in a Christian family, I was always morally and mentally strong, noone could break me. I was always athletic, and I always want to go to the United States Naval Academy, While I had always been in great shape, and never liked junk food, I only started sports in 7th Grade, shining in Cross Country, Wrestling, and Track and Field. I have been all county and ranked in the state in all three, I am also a National Qualifier in wrestling, but I could not pay for the trip. This has made me stronger as I know what I am capable of, and it is all bottled up waiting for my moment when I can afford to travel to my national tournaments. The Naval Academy has always seemed the right fit for me, as everything has gone better than planned in my applications proccess, I was accepted to a Seniors Only program as a junior at USNA, called CVW, Canidates Visitation Weekend. I have been priveledged to be able to train with real Marines, not JROTC, not Young Marines program, but the actual Marine Corps, since I was in 7th grade. Everyone seems to want to help me achieve my leadersip goals, and I won't break for anyone or anything, and I think the Marines knew that when they let me train, and I think UNSA knows that, too. The fitness center at my local township challenged me to break the abdominal exercise record, and I beat it by over three minutes. I have gotten perfect scores on the military Physical Fitness Test every time, and my goal for the USNA and becoming a Naval Officer has not broken or faltered. I than my family and my faith, and I am proud to have been Born Stronger.

The Fury

My name is Brian. I am 17.  I was born with a fire inside me. Everyday I am angry. I hate everything and i love only being angry. I grew to become a warrior, a fighter. My nickname for MMA is "The Fury". Everyone I know knows that this name suites me. I am different from everyone else. Everyone who instructs me tells me not to get angry or frustrated because it will block my judgement and problem-solving. They don't realize that I am unique. Anger makes me who I am. Anger makes me see things that I can't normally. It makes me behave in a way that is so intense and competetive that once someone angers me, I can't lose. It is that fire inside me that saves me. I am a survivor. Through any situation or enigma I travel full steam ahead and charge at head first. I cannot be beaten or broken. I am that guy that will work until I reach perfection. Some day I will make professionals look like beginners. My goal in life is to be in Special Forces in the United States Army. I work everyday as hard as I can and I know that one day I will be the ultimate human being. My goal in life is to save people who deserve freedom. I rock climb, lift, fight, and am a natural at almost every sport. I am the most well rounded athlete my age. I continue to work as hard as I can everyday until I am everything i can be. I have a hero complex which means I have a psychological need to help people. It is what keeps my anger channeled and focused on what needs to be accomplished. I can only hurt those in my way of accomplishing my goals and I am sorry for them because whatever they compete against me in, they will do everything right and yet, I will beat them. I am BORN STRONGER because I have to be. I need to help everyone who is in danger and deserves to be helped. I will not fail whoever puts their life in my hand. I don't even need a drill sargeant to tell me to move my ass, simply because I already have that motivation. I count down the days until I can give my life for my country and the people who need to be free. All I want in return is that awesome t-shirt with the BORN STRONGER shield with the 2 griffins(my last name) back to back.

My name is Austin Faunce, 17

My name is Austin Faunce, 17 years old. I am a wrestler and i will never settle for a loss. I went to the National tournament to compete for the state of Oregon for Greco Roman style. I made it all the way until the semi final match where my opponent made a lucky throw and broke my neck. The doctors told me I might never be able to wrestle again. After multiple major surguries and a year of physical therapy I was feeling ready to get back into wrestling. My first year back which was my junior year in my high school wrestling. I never took the trip back to nationals but i took the state championship for my high school my senior year along with a state championship in Freestyle and Greco Roman wrestling. Now Im going to college to be a physical therapist because i never want a kid to have a doctor tell him he cant do what he loves thats why i just want to say follow your dreams and never let anyone hold you back.

Sacrifice for Savior

Hello, My name is Christopher Phillips, I am currently 16yrs old. When I was very young about the age of 6 I drowned and died for a min and a 24 secs. Horrable yes, but I was brought back to life by the lifegaurd who was on duty. Since that point I realized that i should become better in the water, so when i was 7 i took up swimming. Swimming is a very challenging sport, very hard and requires you to work every muscle in your body. Fast forwording a few years to when i was 12, I joined a local swim team for base compitions, My first race i ever took part in I got first place, shocked i wanted to become a better swimmer so I could have hopes of becomeing an even better swimmer. So now going to this year i have been part of the Highschool swim team and a highly valued person to the team, I am the 8th fastes person on the team out of the 76 and hold a record for the 100 Butterfly for Softmores the time an amazing 57secs...but enough gloating, half way through the season and one day after school about 8pm there were three guys just standing around or so i though...compleatly igoring them i just walked by untill I heard a voice asking for someone to help in the direction of where the three guys were at, I walked over to them and saw a woman down on the ground who was being hurt by three men. So Enraged i jumped into help the girl and to try to get her out of there by any means nececcary. And what i mean by that is I ended up fighting the three men who so cruley hurt the poor woman, overall i won the fight but susstaing a cracked rib and some brused bones, but i got the woman out of there safely and that is all that mattered. The next day i went to swimming practice they wouldn't let me swim and kicked me off the team for fighting which sucks, but i really don't care because I saved someone and i would have gladly done it agian.

Only the strong and willing survive.

My names Brian. I am 16 years old. I wrestle and play football. It first hit when i was in the 7th grade when i was sometimes totally dominated by teammates and opponents that i needed to do something now if i was to accomplish my dreams. I was a lanky 5' 8'' 135. Then i really started hitting the weights HARD! Every day, 7 days a week, sometimes even twice a day. I would never have time for partys or girls cause i was always lifting and they were roadblocks keeping me from my goals. I came back to school and football season with a built 5'9" 160 frame. Friends and family couldnt believe it. That year the football team went undefeated and won the conference championship, me at QB and linebacker. I then won a individual wrestling conference championship that same year. I looked at myself in the mirror and knew i wasnt the same kid from the year before, and i knew that if i put my mind to something, i could achieve it. I realized that what i gave up like the partys, girls, and the time to myself was nothing compared to what i gained. The sky was the limit in my eyes. Ive been doing the same thing since then, and have achieved so much. Ive even watched myself pass my teammates everyday. While they made excusses, i was busting my tail! Once i got into the 800lbs club for the football team, friends and teammates started to think i was on anabolic steriods. And when those people came up and asked me, i would say "no, i just work hard". They would just laugh, cause they wouldnt know hard work if it slapped them in the face. I now am working for a varsity spot on the football team and a trip to the high school state wrestling tournament. I am born strong because i am willing to do whatever it takes to achieve my goals and not let popular trends deter me from them.

one day it hit me

My name is Erik Smith. I am from San Antonio TX and 21 years old. As a child , like many of you, I was beat up by other students at school. The thing is when i got home to tell my step dad, I would find my mother bruised up... you guessed it my step dad was the attacker. He would then take out his rage on me and my older sister. Moving on. I realized I couldnt let it happen any more I started fighting back, with both the kids in school and my step father at home. When it was time for gym class I pushed myself to the limit. Doing more pushups and situps then needed to get in shape and prepare myself physically for the trials ahead. This is not the part where i say " i went on to beat up all the bullys and my drunken father." Instead I convinced my mother to move out and leave the evil behind us. Now things are great. Im about to join an MMA school here in San Antonio... not to be a pro fighter, which has been a dream of mine since the age of 15. But to be as fit as possible mentally and physically so that i can get through the US ARMY infantry school after I start basic training this August. And I dont plan on stopping there, I would like to become an Army Ranger. I think it would do wonders for me. I am in above average shape. I am 6ft 1 in tall weighing in at 170 pounds. I have been running almost everyday for about a year now...all up hill and down hill. I start my mma classes in a week from now and cant wait! If you need help verifying my story email me and i will give you my recruiters email adress and phone number so she can tell you yourself. I know this isnt the most heroic story... but its my story lol :) I'm not here for the shirt, im just here to hopefully spread some inspiration to the young, confused readers who are tired of being tossed around. One piece of advice " No matter what you go through in life dont let anyone break you! Dont ever give in to weakness or pain, because once you do you wont forgive yourself", just remember" Quiting is easy, but pushing yourself mentally and physically will make you stronger, and smarter." In the end you will feel better about yourself, your self esteem will be through the roof. So if your reading this and tired of the way things are going" look toward the future, but at the same time remember where you came from" I hope i didnt ramble on and off too much lol. Take care kiddos and keep your head high-----ERIK SMITH  GO FRANKLIN!!!!!!!!!! SORRY CHUCK !!!

Story

My name is Florentino Morales, 25yrs old. I have been training Brazilian jiu-jitsu close to 2 years, and this is my story. Since I was a kid I always very chubby and short. I got picked on a lot and never was good at any sport that I tried, until I started jiu-jitsu. I grew up in the projects and for the first 6 years of my life I was living with just my mom and most of the time my grandma was taking care of me because my mom had me at a very young age; 16 or 17. When I came to the states I knew no english or spanish, just my native indian language. I grew around gangbangers and drug addicts, but I never wanted to follow in their foot steps. I had no role model while I was growing up and my dad didn't come into my life until I was 7 years old. He should be videos of karate and other martial arts, but I was an obese kid and never was good at it or any other kind of sport. I was always too short, too weak, or too slow to be good at any sport. In 1998, I learned about Brazilian jiu-jitsu and I thought to myself, that I can do that since it looks smooth and cool. In my neighborhood there was no gym or academy nearby. I didn't get into until 2008. Jiu-jitsu has completely changed my life, I'm more fit, more confident, and has brought my sisters together since they too do jiu-jitsu. I also introduce jiu-jitsu to my cousin who was was going in the wrong path and he quickly fell in love with it. This year I competed in the Pan-Ams jiu-jitsu tournament, the second most prestigious tournament in our sport and I placed 3rd place. My hopes and dreams is to be a future multiple times world champion and an instructor. I want to have a school where kids can train for free and exercise so they can stay out of trouble and be fit and have a healthy life style. I want to build a academy in Mexico so that the poor kids can have something to do, I want to help them and change their lives for the better. I also hope to get some sponsorship because it's ver hard to pay for tournaments when I'm also living with my parents to help them pay bills.

Anyways, if you have any ideas or techniques for new blog owners please share. I understand this is off topic however I just needed to ask. Kudos!

Celina99 | 2011-10-27 00:07

I was a sickly child with asthma and was neglected by my family. So aside from physical weakness, I was always filled with insecurities. But I got tired of feeling sorry for myself so I decided to make my body stronger. I started walking, then running outside with a running music playlist. Running not only made my body stronger but it helped me develop a more positive temperament. So maybe all of us are bornstronger---we have that spirit that takes us out of dark thinking and our present reality to strive for a better life!

My dad was a Marine. He meant the world to me. I can still only strive to be half as good of a man as he was. He was shot to death when I was 6 years old in Tennessee. It was ruled a self defense killing and nothing happened to the guy that shot him. After that I moved to Arkansas to live with my mom and little sister and she took the role of mom and dad and did her best to raise me the man I am now. We lived in a rough neighborhood full of drugs, violence and other bad things. She soon re-married to a different guy. I finally thought I might have some sort of father figure..I was wrong. He was sent to prison for cooking dope a few years after. So even though I was only 10 or 11 I decided I was on my own. I try to do everything I can to help someone out who is in need, because I know how it is not having anybody to turn too. Whether Its just talking to someone or helping them in their yard. I try to do what I wish someone would have done to me when I was young. When I die I want to be able and look back and know that helped someone or even changed their lives. Thats why I think I was Born Stronger.

Why im strong.

Why im strong.
Tucker Frazier | 2010-06-29 18:02

Well, i started highschool being very scrawny and small. I played football, and started to work out. I soon realized that i was one of the stronger kids. I started out benching 150 and squating 210. Then after all of the working out, and the hard core stuff we did. I ended up at the end of the year benching 230 and squating 375. I am also only 5'7" and only way 160. Now that i have been working out for the past two years i have excelled in many things, and i have been getting stronger. It is truly amazing how strong you can get just by working hard at something. I also didn't know how to fight at the beginng of that year. Then once i got the strength i took MMA classes, and was top of the class. It just goes to show that the harder you work at something, the more you get out of it.
This is why I AM STRONGER.

Ilya Ibragimov | 2010-06-29 14:31

Ever since I was little, I would push myself to the extreme, because in the end it pays off. Everyday I waste is another one I will never get back. Whenever I work out, I make sure to push myself to the extreme because I can endure it. It's something that has built up over the years and it's not ever stopping. You can't teach strong, you're born with it.

i know that i was born stronger it is just a matter of mind and body. i've always been smaller than the people around me . i grew up hard with my parents divorced and my dad tryin to raise me best he could. i play football and it is my life and my escape from the world. i love it. i am a corner and only weigh around 130 soakin wet on a good day haha (i am 15 )however i have always been strong for my size and other people's size too. i bench around 200 which is around 160% of my body weight i love to work out and run and push myself to the limit it's not what an  athlete has on the outside but whats on the inside waitin to explode at that right moment i've fought all my life to stay on top and thats why i am STRONGER

Can't be killed

Can't be killed
Jesse | 2010-06-29 06:21

I was born stronger out of sheer necessity.  The moment I was handed to my mother I was a disappointment to her because I looked like my father; a sign of the hard road ahead.  As i grew it was easy to see my home was not really a happy one. It got to where I asked my parents to please just get divorced. Thankfully I found refuge in sports and hunting. At age 3 my father had me in deer stands and through my life would teach me all I needed to know about how to survive in the wild alone, followed by an unannounced test when i was 16 (i'll let you assume where he left me with a for a 2 days). At age 6 i was on a swim team and stayed on until i was 16.  In third grade i started playing full contact football for my school, which ended with me as a team captain and an all district player (linebacker) when I finished up my senior season (my 10th year of football).  I also found time to put 5 years of track and field under my belt and come in second in the state for weightlifting (with a broken hand). I went to college and started MMA training.  I love BJJ.  All this good though is countered by the fact that before the age of 20 I have been through enough to say I really should be dead.  I've been in 3 car accidents by myself (2 totaled my vehicle), cracked my head open twice and lost a lot of blood both times, had to swim out of a rip tide by myself (this was at age 12), been electrocuted by faulty wiring, had guns to my chest while unarmed and still had to win the fight, got a concussion during my football years (never missed a single game), stayed half submerged in water while naked in 40 degree weather at night for hours (my friends make bad decisions and i pay for them), been in several street fights, and been a part of countless stupid and dangerous stunts involving a four-wheeler. And I've only allowed myself to go to a hospital once.
My latest hurdle is the ongoing struggle with my family who is together only because they can no longer survive alone.  My father was in a terrible motorcycle accident that left him permanently injured and every day seems to be a struggle with both he and my mother who often breaks down. In fact, my father never got to see my last high school football game. The accident was the saturday before.  Along with that, I work as a security guard averaging about 56 hours a week.  In fact I am just now coming off of a 16 hour shift. All this and I still find time to lift weights and swim and get a little BJJ practice in here and there with some friends.  If I'm lucky i might even make time to hit the bag once a week.
I'm still in college and I don't plan on slowing down. I'm going to stick with my training, my family, and all the other cards my life has been dealt. Two more years and I'm planning to be a part of the FBI or maybe even the CIA. They could always use a tough and strong new agent.  I am both. I grew up having to be.  I was just born that way. I was BORN STRONGER.  My life is the proof.

I never really thought of my self as being strong until my freshman year when i got str. Training. I soon realized i was much stronger. I was the youngest one in the class and i benched the 2nd most in the class putting up 265lbs. Everyone was suprised, considering i was only 14, 170lbs, and 5'9".

Well just over a year ago I was a in a bad motorcycle accident. I overshot my landing on a jump and landed perfectly flat after free falling for 30 feet. I blew my ankle into a hot mess. Part of it was sticking out of the skin on the wrong side of the foot, the other part was bulging up against the skin. My throat had a hole blown in it internally (the trachea i think is what they said it was) and to add to it i had trauma in my torso. When i got to the hospital they said my chances of survival where slim for the night. But i made it through the night, not a lot of sleep, but  the next day i was sore but still kicking. Its a scary experience thinking your going to die and just waiting for it to happen. You don't know how it's going to feel, will it be painful? or will it not hurt at all? On the way to the hospital i felt like i just needed to sleep. Thats all i wanted to do, my vision was fading it was hard to breathe and the only thing that sounded good to me was a little bit of sleep. At the time i didn't know but that nap on the way to the hospital could have been the last one i ever took. Its hard to look at your mother thinking your going to die. Your in pain, but you want to show no weakness for her sake. After they life flighted me to a hospital nearer to my home in San Diego i spent 5 days in ICU and three to four months recovering. The throat healed completley and my ankle needed two screws that will stay with me till im a corpse. About 6 months after my accident i wanted to do something fun and exciting that people wouldnt expect someone with my story to attempt. So i started to take up muay thai, then jiu jitsu. Ive been training ever since and love it. I get to go into that ring with an outlook a lot don't have and i love that to. My accident gave me a new perspective on life and risk taking. Not how most would think i should have taken it. I saw that my life was way to short to not do something ive always wanted to try. And MMA was one of them. Now im hooked to it, and i have no regrets to speak of.
If I have any advice to give anyone its do what you want to do and dont let anyone tell you differently. Life is a calculated risk and everything we do comes with its own demons. If you love what you do the risk shouldn't be your main concern,  whether you have the courage to live your life to its potential should be your primary worry instead. I still ride dirtbikes, and i love to fight in the ring. They got their risk but to me the risk is all part of it. Its what i do, and what i wake up in the morning wanting to do. Coming from a guy who should be a corpse, take it from me, do what you want to do. Life is way to short not to. Till the day i die ill be suckin' gas and kickin @$$!

I couldnt join any sports because of my asthma till like third grade then i joined football and soccer.I was always that kid that sat out because i was to fat, i was out of shape. In fifth grade i didnt do anything because i was depressed cause everybody that i knew moved away from me i had nothing to do.The next year i found a new friend, best friend i every had we worked out every day  then iwas losing weight then i started middle school and i joind three sports every year in 8 grade i joined wrestling and i won most of my matches. i wrestled throughout the year i ended up 23-12. Living in the Shadows of my Father

Living in the Shadows of my Father
Steve | 2010-06-28 06:56

I was born in the shadow of my dad. He was a college basketball star and ever since i was little he has had me on the court. However I could never really enjoy it because as i got older, my younger brother grew much faster and was physically more mature than i was. He still is to this day. It seemed as if my dad favored my brother and i grew to become less self confident. Throughout grade school i was made fun of because i am extremely skinny. I would get made fun of on a daily basis in a small Catholic school. So one summer i went to a camp and me and a kid got into a fistfight over a simple game of horse. Turns out i could throw my hands pretty well. From that day on my confidence grew but not by much. That school year i took none of the bull that those kids dished out. I can't be angry at my dad anymore though because he was the one that got me into doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He has a friend that teaches it so i went in for a class and realized it was dream to become a master with my own gym. From then on my confidence is back to where it should be. Now i realize that even if you feel physically, mentally, and emotionally defeated, a strong heart can keep you going. My name is Steve Falcone. I am a 6'0, 135 lb sixteen year old and thats how I WAS BORN STRONGER!

Daniel Joines | 2010-06-28 06:27

Ever since i was a little kid getting in to trouble and doing dumb stuff i always ended up getting hurt but im 15 now and weather i was getting physical pain like when i got hit with a golf club to the jaw or emotional pain like a family member dying i built myself to bottle it up and not even cry. It was a tough job trying to make myself just rock soild to everything i can still bleed and be hurt just instead of crying like normal kids i channel my pain into anger so the more pain im in the madder i am. Im only 15 years old, only 5' 10", only 144lbs im not the biggest guy and yet growing up i could take on anyone i even took down my 44 year old 400lb step dad when i was 12. Im tired of people talking about strength as in muscles. Its not about how hard you can hit, its about how hard you can get it. How much damage can you take until you crumble. You dont even have to be the biggest or the strongest just have to have heart. My name is Daniel Joines and I was born STRONGER.

I was born strong, but never realized my potential until i entered my jr. year of high school. Lifting wieghts for my football team, made me strong and fast. I am already a good fighter and am about to take up mixed martial arts. I have overcome many challenges and never back down from one, Im only 5 10, 195, but bench 350 and squat 500. Im not a fighter, and only do it when i have to. most people dont want to fight me though. When your strong you earn a name for your self.

Mark Haeuser | 2010-06-27 00:02

I grew up reading comic books living my life through their heroics. I was smaller than most guys my age- hell I graduated High School at 165 pounds. But I had tried, tried hard since the age of 13. I was one of those who got the plastic weight set. I trained in vain for many years trying to grow stronger and more importantly larger. I also started karate at 16. I had to wait until then because I had to be able to drive myself to class twice a week. There are years of failures but also many triumphs - although I have learned those come harder than the failures did. Now at 45 I can truely say I have reached the goals I strived for. I have three black belts, I am 5'9" and 205 pounds at 7 % bodyfat - that is really quite large compared to the average human. I bench close to 500 with a bench shirt  - 380-400 raw, I squat almost 600 and dead lift around 700 or more. I am fit at 45, happy and often actually get embarrassed these days when people get out of my way in Wal Mart - I work as a po0lice officer, am a SWAT sniper, and considered an expert in street survival and tactics. All of this came from that same goal - to be bigger and stronger. Not to compete with others - I have never really cared about that. I do what I love and I do it for me. I stay strong and will never be the weak link.

My names John. I'm 13. I was raised in a loving household with two parents. My mother had breast cancer, and she had been struggling with it for around 25 years. When i had just turned 11 she passed away. My dad decided to start abandoning us and go out almost every night. He would bring home drunk women and tell us to leave. All this had been building up a fire inside of me, and its taking everything i have to control it. So while my brothers smoke weed, i work out. When they drink, i train. Its the only thing i can do to contain the fire. I train in MMA 4 days a week, and workout everyday.

Jeremy Rothstein | 2010-06-27 00:21

My names Jeremy Rothstein and i was born on March 28th 1992... My whole life ive been the short kid and the underdog but my whole family has been hard nosed workaholics with the idea of that if you want something bad enough and work hard enough you'll get it, I've played football 12 straight years since i was 6 and have never no started ive done wrestling for 7 years, baseball for 6 and now im doing mma and aspiring to make something great out of that. I actually tore ligaments in my right ankle and then re rolled it 7 times in one season on top of a rib injury torn mcl and dislocated knee cap and finished the season the top rusher in the league averaging over 10 yards a carry, some runningbacks are flashy and use moves but i run right up the middle and was nicknamed the bowling ball on the news cause im so short and stocky but i love to hit people. Ive been hit by a car and broke nothing, ive won the keystone state championship powerlifting competition my first year competing, i can bench 325lbs and leg press over 800lbs and im 5'6 185lbs, my doctor actually thought i had muscular dystrophy because he's never seen calves as big as mine. I've been a champion in every sport ive played and i simply beleive its do to my work ethic to be the best and love for what im competing in. I'm joining the Marine Corps in a year just like my father did and joining a long line of family soldiers, i feel the Marines will be the best test for mental and physical toughness, i know im leaving plenty out but mark my words and write my name down i will be in the UFC one day and will be a high ranking officer in the Marine Corps that is a guarantee. I've lived by my two favorite quotes my whole life " success isn't something you run after but something you aquire by the person you become" and of course " Pain is jus weakness leaving the body"   Semper Fi!!

Never Back Down

Never Back Down
Zachary Oxendine | 2010-06-26 12:26

Never Back Down was the name of the movie that inspired me, becaue you see i used to fight all the time, not because i liked to but i was just use to it. Ever since i was a kid i was skinny and i had to self confidence, i started defending myself in kindergarten because i realized that if i wasnt going to take up for myself who was?  My first fight was over a swing, this kid named kyle rozier pushed me and i just said in my head swing so when i did the outcome was him on the ground with a bloody nose! Ever since that day if a kid steped to me with a comment about my size or just trying to be a bully they were in for a rude awakining! But im not the one you see on tv with the huge muscle's, i take protien and i only weigh 155 lb's but it's been my dream ever since i saw the movie i mentioned at the top to be a mma star and that dream is still #1 on my list, ima get there one day to, all i need is a little training and a chance and i will prove that i can be a champion or at least yuur average middleweight.

My name is brandon wright im 15 and i grew up the late bloomer so i got picked on allot about my sise so i got into allot of fights inside and outside of school being the late bloomer i lost many of those fights i might not have been born stronger but i was born with the drive and potentential to be strong so over the eighth grade summer i finnaly got taller and grew allot so i also decided to start lifting weights and joined a gym then once i came back too school i was much taller much stronger and nobody really wanted to mess with me anymore except a couple kids that used to. recently i started to enjoy martial arts such as mma and had an intrest in a certain mma gym so i asked my mother about it she was reluctant because i already got into allot of fights and she thought i was just going to learn how to hurt people but i told her that i would work for the money i would find a ride or even walk and she agreed but my father disagreed because he didnt want a "gorrilla" running around his house so i am currently in wrestling and am going to take it from there i still have my friends who are in  mma over for sparring and i still have them teach me submissions.

About Me

About Me
John | 2010-06-25 23:07

I was born premature and was only  about 4 to 5 pounds when i was born. I was small enough to fit in my fathers hand. Before i was born they thought i would develop Jondis and that i would have slight downs syndrome. As I grew up i had always noticed that i was older but not as smart as the other kids. Soccer was a big part of my life starting at the age of 6, which taught me to make my self stronger and better than older kids and which gave me my competative spirit today. At the age of fourteen we had found that my father had developed lung cancer and he had lost his job a year before. He had a stint put in and was forced to quit smoking but what came with that was the nights of late night drinking and the reoccuring panic attacks that made me very very nervous for my father every day. Age the age of fifteen i remember one day waking up and not seeing anyone at home. My sister had ran my father to the hospital because he could not breath and had weeks of caughing up blood. a week later we got a call late at night that we would have one more day with my father. i remeber staying there til 12 at night and not letting go of his hand for 2 hours. my hand had turned white by the end of the night. the next day i was told he had passed away and to this day i know the exact time he did 11:35 a.m. After that i had gone into ninth grade where i tried out for football and excelled and started as a freshman varsity kicker and punter and started on jv as a safety. the next year i went back to my sport, soccer and had to beat a starter for my position i had played to a T. Four months ago i joined Jiu Jitsu and had my first competion three weeks ago after only being in classes for three months. being new to the sport i lost both my matches but to nationally ranked opponents i might add. But with any defeat comes the task of picking your self up and a week after i asked my sensei when our next competition is. Its not just a sport for me or a competition, its fun and i love one on one competion for anything.

Nick Cramer | 2010-06-25 09:34

My name is nick im currently 16. i started training in martial arts when i was 8 and for the last two years ive taken up MMA. I grew up with an alcoholic step dad that use to beat me and my mom until the time i was 13 when we finally left. for 13 years i struggled to survive as this so called "man" beat me bloody for no reason other then that he had a bad day at work. Since i can remember he told me that i was worthless and i would never amount to anything. He tryed to kill me and my mom on more then one occasion. i could go on to write a book about all the things he has done to ruin my life and all the other hardships ive face in these short 16 years such as the drug abuse problems i faced living on the streets at the age of 13. After i finally left i had some other problems do to upperclassmen picking on small kids that could not defend themselves. Ive been jumped and beating with chunks of concrete and struck in the face with bricks.(earning me the name nick "the brick" cramer). All of this stuff has never stopped me in my pursuit and goal to someday be a professional fighter. Everything ive faced has shown me that i am born stronger and will only continue to be stronger.

i grew up in a town called milford ohio. my parents were divorced so i was always traveling back in forth from milford to cincinnati. i was always a small kid so of course that made me an easy target. the bigger kids in school always made fun of me because i couldnt afford nice cell phones or cloths or shoes. eventually to get rid of the depression i found myself getting high everytime i had the chance. i had always wanted to be a professional wrestler but growing up in a home where everyone laughs and says your too small to be a wrestler your never going to make it. i had always been getting beat up by the big kids in school but everyday i would tell myself one day i am going to get big and be a professional wrestler. i had no support from anyone but myself. i knew i was destined to be a wrestler and by god one way or another thats what i was gona do. i started eating more and working out and made it threw high school without anyone else messing with me anymore. now im training in cincinnati ohio to be a professional wrestler. im no longer small. i proved everyone wrong. i did get big enough to be a wrestler. im 6 foot 1 and 225 pounds. that is why i think i am born strong

I wasnt born strong. I had to make myself strong. I started playing football in the 4th grade and ive been hooked every since. I'll be honest, i was good. I still am, but i wouldnt be if it was for my dedication in the weight room. everyday i lifted and ran my hardest to make myself the best i could possibly be. my freshman year after healing form a broken arm i couldnt even bench 100 pounds. now, the summer before my senior year, i can bech 250, squat 410, and deadlift 410.  Im starting fullback and linebacker on my football team and people know my name. I made myself strong.

William Burke | 2010-06-23 16:31

My name is William Burke I am 14 and, I live in Western New York. I started wrestling this year when i had my first match on modified i lost everyone to be honest. But that same year I the varsity coach Bob Neman asked me to move up because the needed a 112 pounder. I weighed 120 and was up for a challenge. So I took the varsity test and fought through the pain and made the varsity team. I lost my first two matches on varsity and about this time I got serious and was sick of losing so i put in the hard work in practice and, after that i didn't lose a match for 13 matches. I was gonna Be a top seed for sectionals. But my next match I was wrestling and we were in the third period and he took a shot and broke my leg. This left me devastated. But i didn't just quick even though i didn't get to compete in sectionals. I went and joined a summer wrestling camp were I wrestled greco roman and freestyle. I have never not placed in a tournament yet for this style and in a month I am going to nationals out in fargo with kids everywhere from around the country. So that just shows you know matter what happens keep pushing and don't give up because no one will wait for you. I would be honored for you to choose me for this award.

Ryan Selfridge | 2010-06-23 10:39

I run long distance track and cross country. I am not great or try to act like it. I am an important part of the team though as the 5th guy, and last guy scored, and need to stay up near the top of the pack. It was during a race that I got testicular torsion, doctors compare it to women giving birth. I ran a 34 second personal record that race. My testicle got swollen and black and blue for the next two weeks while I hid it from my teammates, parents, and coach. I knew if I told anyone my season would be over and our chances of making the meet of champs would be shot. I raced in two more races before my teammate saw it. He told my coach. Needless to say, I was brought to the hospital and they gave me two options. Run until the end of the season and risk losing a testicle or have surgery. My parents forced me to have surgery against my will. I had a race the next day though, which I ran in and did decent. I missed two weeks near the end of the season. I was back with one race before sectionals and fighting for a varsity spot. I went as hard as I could and ran a disappointing time but held my varsity spot. With 4 days until sectionals I had a 103 fever. I went to practice and threw up on the warm up. My condition got even worse and i was barely eating and drinking. My coach decided to sit me for secdtionals. I was determined to return for states. I was still very sick the next week but went up to Holmdell and put on my spikes and uniform. It was raining and very cold. I finished with a poor time. Throwing up and with aching testicles I was determined to be back and stronger next season. My preseason cross country has just started. I was BORN STRONGER. People may be more talented, faster, but I am mentally stronger. I have faced terrible things and have sucked it up. I am BORN STRONGER. I will WORK HARDER. I will NEVER GIVE UP.

All through elementary and middle school I was made fun of by people of all ages because of my last name and because of how i walked. I go to a small school in Wisconsin and my options for friends were  nonexistent. guys made fun of me and girls would not talk to me. In middle school I got a few friends buy being the funny guy but real friends came in higschool when i needed then. playing sports and progressing at then I gained friends. In 2 years my uncle commited suicide, a family friend died, my girlfriend cheated on me numerous times, my parents got divorced, and I moved 4 times. And on top of  all the action I rolled my car in the going 50 MPH on a corner in the rain. While the car was upside down I rolled my window up with water comeing in I grabbed my things and walked to the house that I had originally lived in. IRONIC.  And through it all I managed to play 3 sports (football, basketball, and baseball), keep a girlfriend, and work as a cook in a restaraunt 20 hoors a week. No matter what life throws at you, you can get through it if your BORN STRONGER.

I was born & bread strong....

I was born & bread strong....
Tyler | 2010-06-23 01:33

I was born & bread strong.... a natural athlete i guess, but by no means would i imagine how strong i would be TODAY.  Im not just talking about physically, but mentally as well, probably even more so.  Im from South Carolina and lets just say life hasn't always been so easy for me.  In elementary I started to notice i was fast... real fast. I went to the 12 & under boys state championships competition in Columbia SC where they have all kinda sporting events, it's almost like a little kids olympics i guess you could say. You could enter any of the competitions there so i entered the 50 yd dash and the standing broad jump, where i took first in both.  I also played baseball throughout elementary school, i made all stars 3 times and believe it or not i wasn't even a coaches son haha.  When i got into middle school that's where i really found my calling though, the wrestling team. The varsity head coach approached me and told me i should come out, he said he always saw me running around and jumping so he thought it'd be a good idea. My first year i was very successful, finishing 2nd in the AAU state competition.  I also went out for c-team football the next year, never even touched a weight at the time (even though my father is a body builder) but that didnt stop me, i was the 1st string running back by the end of the year & by the end of 8th grade i went from never touching a weight to benching 205. I continued to play football up till 10th grade, then i decided just to concentrate on wrestling because i loved it.  It was the purest sport i'd ever known, so much discipline and sacrifice, it wasn't a sport you could just walk into and be good at, it took time, hard work, & patience. My freshmen yr i was a 140, got 3rd in state which i was happy with but not satisfied. The next yr i broke my hand... before the season even started. I took my cast off after two weeks and continued wrestling with a broken hand for the remainder of the year. I still qualified for state, but that was the DUMBEST thing i'd ever done, it greatly effected my wrestling performance, i couldn't lift weight, and worse than that it went from being 2 months to heal to almost 7 to fully heal. The next year was definitely the turning point in my life, see something i forgot to mention earlier was my parents split when i was 3 & i had lived with my mom ever since. The problem was my mom was CRAZY, physically and mentally abusive, up till i was around 16 yrs old which is when i ran away from home. I had told my family about this before, no one ever seemed to believe how bad it was though. I didnt wanna go to the cops because well ya know she was still my mom.  After that i pretty much had to bounce around from home to home, friends houses, different relatives, I stayed at the nicest places and the worst shit holes you could ever imagine.  These things had never affected my persona and the way i came off to people before, but i guess the stress was begginning to be too much.  I was so shell shocked from my mother that if anyone even slightly raised their voice to me i would just go off, which i what happened my junior wrestling season... at my coach. I got kicked off the team and this time I REALLY had nowhere to go.  My mom had moved somewhere about an hour away, i was forced to go live with her again just so i could go to school and still wrestle, which i did because that how much i loved it. Unfortunately around here though if you transfer after December you are eneligible, I was now stuck with my mom with absolutely no extra ciricular activities. At first things were different, she was being alot nicer and easier to get along with, but after a while things got even worse than they did before.  I was almost 18 yrs old at the time, i still remember walking over 70 miles in one night just to get away from her, no food, no water, not even knowing where the hell i was going or if i'd have a place to sleep at night.  I ended up staying with a friend i had met at the new school, he is still to this day like my brother and everyone who sees one of us always knows the other one is close by.  Bouncing around so much had caused me to be eneligible for my "senior" year too, because i had missed so much school i didnt even get credit for any of my classes the previous year, which was terrible considering when i was a 160 pounder my soph year i was benching 205 but still managed to get 3rd in state, and this year i was only 165 but was benching 275.  That year i had already missed 30 days by the end of first quarter too, i was forced to drop out being a 19 yr old "senior".  I know they say that's the easy way out, but let me tell you.. it's NOT.  You actually have to take a test and pass it for your GED, it isnt too easy like you'd think either, it consist of everything from 9th - 12th.  Despite that i took the 2 month course and passed it on my first try.  After that for a yr and a half i did nothing but drink, smoke, and do drugs.. i had no job and i was done with school, so no sports.  The day i turned 20 i met a russian girl named Yuliya, who i married after 6 months and she is now 3 months pregnant.  Meeting her saved me, she had a job, a car, and was very religious.  I stopped doing drugs, got a job, and got a place where we now live.  I was working at wal-mart, which is great for some people, but not me.  I have to be head strong and moving at all times, im a bit of an adrenaline junky and sports was ALWAYS my get away coming from such a rough child hood.  I had always wanted to do mma since i got outta highschool, i just never had money or transportation, which i now had.  I started training at Evolution Combat Academy in anderson, SC about 2 months ago, which i am having very much success at.  Im already one of the top 3 bjj students in the class, and top 5ish muay thai fighters.  I didnt even wrestle my junior or senior yr in high school, much less college... but im in there beating college wrestlers at wrestling and bjj every day.  Im almost 21 now and am glad i made it through all those hard times.  In the end it's funny because i wanna thank my mom, i wanna thank her for yelling, choking, and slapping me throughout the years and for kicking me out on the streets because it only made me tougher.  After all the nights of sleeping in the car & having no food, even the drugs and plus all the things wrestling in itself had taught me, i wouldnt take any of it back because it only made everything else in life look EASY.  Like I said I was born and BREAD stronger.

i started out as a nobody, i was scrawny and have always got picked on in the past and still do now i get made fun of because i like lifting and want to have a fantastic body i want to learn martial arts and ive always dreamed to be a ufc fighter i also wear the fight shirts and all people do is say the ultimate fighter sarcastically or laugh at me but i knew in my mind i was better than them. Everyone called me weak and said i wasnt good enough to be anything. I also got made fun of for alot of lies i made in 6th grade when i was little and had no idea what was coming for me. Everyone would bring up the lies every once in a while. 7th grade i started talking to all the girls and getting along with them. I figured out they were talking about me behind my back on everything i did and now talk to very fiew girls. in 8th grade i still got made fun of for everything i did no matter what it was so i decided to prove everyone wrong, I signed up at the Sewickley Valley ymca to lift weights and now im one of the if not the biggest kid in my grade. at the end of 8th grade year i got so mad because people were picking on me at school i punched a hole in a door and then kicked to holes in it then ripped it off of its hinges at the locker room doors to get in the locker room because it was locked and it was in my way.  everyone even the girls were in silence just looking at me destroy the door. I got suspended for 3 days. When i got back to school i was hearing rumors saying everyone thinks im on steroids. I would have to say 80 percent of the guys picking on me quit and 100 percent of the girls.  When i went to the gym all i did and still do today was mumble or say in my head what people said to me all of my life. I am now a freshman in highschool and am benching 225 pounds which is the most in the grade and the grade above me. This story might not sound bad on paper but if you lived my life you would know all of the specifics that you cant explain to others and you would regret everything in your life. I was always depressed about me not talking to many girls anymore but theres many fish in the ocean, even if there is an oil spill :) I want all of you who read this to just hold that anger everyone gives you and let it out at the gym then all in the end you can say look at the body this people made me trust me it works. if you have any questions or need help with your crisis with bullies, being picked on, regretting things in life please feel free to give me an email at jburkey28@aim.com

I want to tell you how I am born stronger. First I have been breaking the pull up record in every grade i have been in except 2. An example is in 9th grade I broke the pull up record for the junior high. The pull up record was set at 19 and i got 20 pull ups. another record for the school I beat was the mile record. I ran the mile in 5mins and 10 seconds. I was born stronger because I never had to workout like other kids to beat the records for our school. I also was in wrestling for the school and when i was 14 I won every match for our school because I was simple stronger mintaly and physicaly then all my opponents. I have learned alot of how to fight from wrestling which helps me fight  when I go to fight nights at peoples house. This is where you face random people in fighting with real MMA gloves. The places are usually really crouded but i have only lost 3 times out of 32 fights that i got matched up with. So I know that i was born Stronger.

Ever since i was 5 I always had to fight for everything.  I was abonboned by my mother and father and i had to live with my grandmother.  She raised my and 4 of my cousins.  My uncle first started to teach my how to box at this age.  My cousin and I we would spare each other and he would take us to train.  I was also force to fight other kids because i grew up in the bad part of town.  I would fight way older kids.  I didnt always win but i got my hits.  Now im 17 and i train in kickboxing and learning some sumissions and grappeling i have fought in the new jersey karate league and won in the first round by ref stopage.  My dreamer is to become a figher and i will do anything to achieve my dream no matter what it takes

Ever since I could stand i've been wanting to do MMA, as far back as I can remember its been one of the most interesting things in my life. The competition of it all is what I loved the most, not knowing if you were going to be the one standing at the end, or the one laying face down. Me and a buddy of mine got into this MMA class and we stayed in it for about 6 months, everyone knows that money is always an issue. Ever since then i've been doing everything I could to make sure that I stayed in good shape so I could still do MMA. I dont have any stories of being bullied, or stories of not being strong enough and what-not, but I DO know that strength and height means absolutely nothing, i've had a guy half my size take me down. I just wanted to share with all you guys that, if you have the willpower, mindset, and determination to make it through all the bad things thats happened in your past, you already have a 1 up on all the others. Everyone keep following your dreams of being that one standing there, in that cage, holding that belt. Dont ever give up!

they say 2 year olds are supposed to live care free and have fun  as a kid. well for me not something that happen like it should. ever wonder what its like to have your little body put thru a wall or drowned in a bath tub. or seen your mom get her ass kicked for trying to stop a guy from doing things that are sexual to you. i fought for years to forget the pain and now because of it all i am a stronger father to my 3 kids. and will never let anything like that happen to them

Chance Nichols | 2010-06-20 19:10

Every day i am told that i cant. I am 15 years old and from a small town in the midwest. I have spend almost every morning of the past two summers waking up early to mow yards before football practice so that i can be able to pay gym dues at the MMA gym i train with. The gym is one of Eddie Bravo's 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu schools. I am one of the youngest members of the gym of elite fighters but i have been blessed with a 6'0 189lb frame to be able to compete with men who have been training in the martial arts since before i was born. I have lost so many friends in my pursuit of MMA glory, due to the extreme passion i have for the sport. I walk the halls of my high school wearing my fight shirts proudly even though people snicker and laugh. I belive that all that bull shit just makes me mentaly stronger. My dream is to move to Las Vegas after high school and live in my car if i have to while trying to make it too the biggest stage of them all, the UFC. I have spend hours building my Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu games at 10th Planet and my wrestling in my schools wrestling room during the season. In my garage there is a heavy bag and a picture of Pat Militich with his hand raised after another victory in his illustrious career, I have hit that bag so many times my fingers bleed though my handwraps inside my gloves. Two years ago i sustained a football injury in which my liver was torn open by my floating rib. I fought through the pain for three more plays before passing out right on the field. Doctors told me that after examineing my liver they found a growth on my spleen that could be cancerous. A month later a doctor gave me two options: He could remove my spleen surgically or we could just monitor it but i would never be able to play contact sports again. I immediatly said give me the 9,000 surgery so i could keep my dreams of fighting alive. Im not a badass streetfighter who likes to look for trouble, im a hardworking boy with a dream i am determined to make a reality. I would be HONORED to wear one of your shirts if you choose me.

I am 17 and a senior in high school. When I was in elementary and middleschool, I used to get made fun of for sitting at recess and reading books.  I had bent glasses, goofy hair, braces, and didn't kiss a girl till I was in high school.  Now things are a little different.  I play three varsity sports, have a ripped six pack, and have regular sex.  I tried my first triathlon today and placed in the top 10%.  I succeed at nearly everything I do.  I was not handed this change by chance or luck.  It was not decided that I would become a stronger and better person, I made it so.  I was born for greater things.  I was BORN STRONGER.

I Have Been Born Stronger

I Have Been Born Stronger
Nicholas Stoyer | 2010-06-20 11:27

I grew up in Carrolton, Georgia. My dad ditched me when I was 2 and I have had multiple step dads over the course of my life. Then I turned 5, it turned out that I actually had cancer. A brain tumor it was, it took me years to recover. And even though I made it through I have ataxia in my right side, which is inability to coordinate voluntary muscle movements, unsteady movements, and staggering gait.  But it could have been way worse, so I am proud. This is when i was born stronger, i was in fact reborn if you will. Once middle school came around and I was recovered, I went out for the wrestling team. I was not the best, but surprisingly I was not bad. I started lifting weights when I was 8 and continued lifting and wrestling during high school. I strived to be the best where ever I was, if it was in the weight room or on the mat, or any other place. I also received a home gym for my 14th birthday. In high school I ended up placing third in the state my senior year, which in my book I say is a remarkable feat for someone like myself. I have stopped wrestling but i still lift weights, I plan to be a professional body builder. I am currently 5'3" and 150 lbs and 19 years old. My weight has been shot because of the cancer, but that doesn't mean I can't build muscle like everyone else. At this I while end my story and hopefully you will read this and atleast consider me to when this contest. I have been born stronger. Nicholas Stoyer

My Life's Darkness
Phanuel | 2010-06-20 08:01

I am strong because I have no fear. I take anything titled as impossible as a challenge. Greatness is in my bloodline wheather I like it or not. Dad, uncle, and grandfather are all some of the biggest pastors of the midwest. Mother was a model but wanted to give back to the world so she now works with kids. I am the youngest of three. I was what they called a blessing for the simple fact that I should have died when born. premature by three months. Skipping to now my teenage years, Im working harder than ever before. I recieved the honor of being ranked 28 for running backs in Illinois by NIKE SPARQ and UNDERARMOUR. I can bench press 325 , squat 410, and run a 4.5 in the 40 yard dash all at the age of 16. Though I play football for the scholarships mixed martial arts is and has been my first true love. Im in out of the gym wheather it be wrestling or boxing. I really would like to take martial arts but neither me nor my mom has the money. I persurver through it all to be the best. My dream is to work through the MMA and possiblly become apart of the UFC. Im not just talking Im working at it. I got my license for street fighting and current record is 20-2-0 3 K.O.  I  want the world to look at me and know my face and name. I want everybody to know that I am the greatest fighter, because its made up in my mind I just have to get out there and show the world. Trust me when I say when Im finished with my last year of high school wheather or not I when this to see who's the strongest. I will acheive my dreams no matter how hard or what the price maybe. I will drop everything if I knew it would make me become a better fighter.
What makes me strong is the fact even the I get a million and one people that think Im crazy for what I think, do, and believe I continue to move in the directions of my dreams. Used to be the fatest kid on the block now im one of the most athletic in my whole school. Dedication and Determination is my is my life story. So giving up has never been, nor will it ever be a thought, consideration, or action of mine. I run 5 miles every saturday, and 2 somtimes 3 during the week. If anyone reads this and your close to your dreams or your goals are alot like mine please contact me via email (phanuel44@gmail.com). I know we I need help so if you want to help me train in mixed martial arts or football contact me.

Mike Shipman | 2010-06-20 06:36

I was born strong because i was blessed with the heart of a champion. It is said that a champion is not the perfect fighter, but the fighter that has the most will. We all know the saying, "Its not the size of the dog in the fight, its the size of the fight in the dog." At the time i had been training in boxing for about 4 months, though in my mind i had been training to be a fighter ever since i could remember. I had entered in the Golden Gloves Summer Classic in Allentown, PA. The fights were on friday, saturday, and sunday was the championship rounds that were hosted on tv! Friday my name wasnt called, saturday it rained out, and sunday my name was finally called, and at a rush of time, i was thrown into the finals against an opponent everyone had seen participate in a particular event. That weekend there was a "Sportsfest" where all kinds of sports took place. This man i was matched to fight had just come from the benchpressing competition where he had taken the silver medal. At the time i was 17 years old. He, was 33. Almost old enough to be my dad! Me? I was a scrawny kid weighing in at 135 to try to fight at 146. He weighed in at 150, but i guess he was a local and the judges gave him the go. The sheer size of him made me tremble, but i knew there was only one way to come out of this ring. Like gladiators, we are trapped inside until time is out, or one of us is put down. The bell rings and right off the first five seconds his first right hook rocks me. I think at that point my human perserverence kicked in and took over. I lashed out with nonstop combinations for the entire first round and overwhelmed him. When the bell rung i sat back in my corner and told my coach i believed i had a broken nose, and a concussion, and every time he hit me it flashed black for a few seconds. (Which the concussion was learned to be true, aswell as the broken nose.) The second and third round went the same way with killer instincts, like a shark smells blood. Against all odds, the judges had announced my name at the end of the fight. Infront of everyone that was watching home on tv. My dreams had come true that day. I came out of that fight a new man, and with a new outlook on life. Anything is possible with the determination to do it!

John O'Brien | 2010-06-20 02:46

I had a really rough life growing up and i dont usually talk to people about it. I got into fights my entire life growing up. I was a very angry kid and just loved to fight other kids. My parents finally got divorced when i was 8, after years of hearing them agrue and fight. My dad left just like that and my mom had to raise four children by herself for the next few years. It all went down hill from there, we lost our house, had to move from hotel to hotel and even eventually led to homeless shelters. As i grew up i realized i dont want to be so reckless, i dont like hurting people at all and im probably the nicest guy you will ever meet. Things are much better now and i still get into fights here and there but only if other people start it. Most fights i get into are because im sticking up for my friends because i love my friends and will do anything for them. My dream always has been and always will be, to be a UFC Champion. Somehow i have this feeling thats so overwhelming with confidence and i just know i can do it. Right now im 17 and my names John O'Brien. So remember my name, because the next time you hear it I will be the champ in the UFC...AND THATS A PROMISE!!!

Ever since i was born i have had to be strong. For starters i am the only boy in a house of four girls and with that comes a mental toughness to find yourself and in a since suck it up and the mentallity to get back up and try again. Ever since i could remembere i have never been a lazy person when friends would say they had stayed in side all day i would say that i had  been chopping wood or moving stones or whatever the case may have been for that day the fact was that i was never considered lazy because i pushed myself and my body beyond its physical limits each and every day and even to this day my non complacency with being lazy has and will stick with me. Past not being lazy  i have always been a physically strong guy pulling feets of strength that most people told me i could not do or that might take two people, but rescently in the past year  or so i have been on a quest to not just be fit but to be extremely fit. I went from doing nothing a year or so ago other than daily work to having a strict workout schedule of about 50 minuts a day 5 days a week which has brought me many great rewards. Past getting the body i have always wanted and having the ability to  be able to do practically anything physical that i wanted it has become a quest to not just  be a quest to be extremely fit but a quest for a life of extreme fitness. And with a mentallity of extreme fitness  i have been able to start freerunning and have been able to continue with my dirt bike career  which is the whole reason i started the workouts which turned into my reason for being Strong which in turn has been shown through my whole life so for me strong is not a word it is a life, its my life and its not going to ever change or differ.

No one is stronger (Never give up)...

No one is stronger (Never give up)...
Matt Stenquist | 2010-06-18 23:23

I am not the most physically strong person, although I can hold my own. No, what makes me stronger than anyone else is my mental strength, my attitude, and my determination. I have been through so much in my life and all of it has just made me stronger. I am a 17 year old male, and I have moved between houses 17 times due to renting houses, 2 house fires, a flood, mold inside walls, and just general house problems. In all the moving I have lived in California, Idaho, Saskatchewan (province in Canada), and now in Oklahoma, so I've had to deal with many changes, not the least of whih include climate or losing/making friends. I've also had a couple tragedies in my life. A good friend of mine from my church when I was around the age of 10 was out with some buddies playing "the choking game" and he ended up suffocating and dieing. My parents got divorced when I was 15 and they continue to tell me conflicting stories. My aunt, whom I love dearly, was recently diagnosed with cancer. But I keep pushing on and getting stronger. I've also had countless injuries, including breaking the right side of my collarbone twice, the left side once, tearing my right rotator cuff, breaking my right shoulder blade, spraining both wrists, spraining each ankle twice, spraining each knee, tearing cartilage and tendons in my right knee, and others. All of these injuries I've suffered through some kind of sports. Whether it be biking, wrestling, playing football, or most recently, training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. But nothing can stop me! I've got a bigger heart than anyone I know and injuries will not hold me back! I always loved wrestling matches and football games, but hated practices. So, after recovering from my major shoulder injuries, I tried Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu last October, and I even love going to practice! Nothing can stop my hunger for more BJJ! I hope I can also begin training a stand-up game soon and become a professional MMA fighter. I've already been to 2 NAGA Grappling tournaments, taking second place in each. This is why I believe I am the strongest person there is. I will never give up, just keep pushing on and getting stronger, no matter what you throw at me!

I Was Made stronger

I Was Made stronger
Nemo Vier | 2010-06-18 19:58

My name is Nemo Richard Vier II and i was made stronger. What i mean by this is my life has forced me to become the strong person I am today. when i was two years old my father and my mother split up. Being a two year old i had no idea what my parents were doing and why they were doing it. I found out later that my father would get drunk and beat my mother in front of my brother and I. So after they split up my mom would take me and my brother to a day care , then she would work two jobs a day to support me and my brother. My mother taught me at a young age what it really meant to be strong. A little while after that i started seeing my dad on the weekends where we lived either in a car, a borrowed room, or on the streets. By that time i realized that i needed to be stronger. With those thoughts in my mind i stopped seeing my dad and cut the weakness out fo my life. My mom remarried and we settled down again. We stayed settled for a while until my mom started becoming extremely depressed. I later found out that it was due to my new step-dad who was mentally abusive to her. so again she left him and supported us on her own. we stayed in a cramped room just the three of us. At this point in my life i learned that being stronger wasnt something that happened. I realized that being stronger wasnt about becoming stronger, but pulling the strength out of ourselves and using it to better our situation. A few years later i started having bad chestpains. my mom rushed me to the doctor  and it turned out that i had collapsed lungs. The doctors had to do surgery and remove the soft spots in the tissues on my lungs. I was scared out of my mind,  but i realized that i had to be strong, not just for me but for my mother. The surgeries went well and i fully recovered with healthy lungs. Nothing truely eventful happened in my life until i was 16 years old when a couple friends invited me to come down ant start training at the shootboxing classes downtown. I've been fighting ever since. unfortubnately i left  the shootboxing camp for a more serious fight oriented training facililty being run by Dan Bam Bam stell. MY coach Bam has taught my pretty much everything i know about strength in the ring. He taught me to never give up and train hard so i can fight harder. I am a registered fighter in the IKF(international Kickboxing Federation) world classic in orlando florida july 13rd 24th and 25th where i will be fighting at 130 lbs under muay thai rules.
Overall ive been through having a father, losing him, living on the street, surgeries and many more challenges and that goes to show, that i was not only born stronger.... I was made stronger

I was born in alabama and moved to virginia.  The first years of elementary school were good but bullies came along and not the average im bigger than you bully the mental one that break you down in the head and after awhile you start to beleive that.  I couldn't really do anything about it because i was raised to beleive that "violence" wasn't the answer unless they threw the first punch (never happend).  Then i let myself go and got to 160 even though the teachers still said i was stronger than most kids my age that i wasn't happy where i was.  After my 5th grade crossover to highschool i worked out every other day for a whole summer.  I went from 160lbs and fat to 160lbs if muscle. in one summer even though thats not an acomplashment compared to some people i felt good about myself.  Well this year in middle school someone threw that punch i was waiting for.  The fight lasted 3 seconds.  That was the best three seconds of my life because all the anger and fustrastion from 4 years of "mental" bullying came out. The grownup outside pulled me off his bloody defeated body and hauled me off to the side.  He said that he was going to call the cops on me but i said and my freinds vouched for that he threw the first punched.  And we later found out he broke my eye socket when he hit me in the eye with the punch.

I wasn't supposed to be here. My mother was advised by her doctor to have a abortion because her pregnacy was a high risk to not only her life but my life. But I made it. When I was a baby I ate a whole bottle of Tylenol enough to kill a grown man, but I'm still here. When I was in the fourth grade my father told me I would never amount to anything in baseball and that "I wasn't and never will be as good as him", but 8 straight all-star selections in Youth Baseball, being a varsity outfielder in my freshman year in high-school, and colleges ready to come to my games and waiting me to play for them say otherwise. Nothing kept me down, nothing ever will. I'm still here and I'll never leave.

I was born in Texas and im only 14. growing up as a kid, i never really knew what went on with my parents divorce. I grew up with step parents for a couple years. To say the least before i moved in with my dad, life was tough. I had come from a broken home with a single mother and a little sister. but it wasnt until december 2009 i discovered my dream. I had been a fan of UFC back in the 5th grade, but i only knew who tito ortiz was and i didnt know much about it then. I rented UFC Undisputed 2009 and played it for awhile. Then i started trying out all the moves that i learned on my friends, and now ive become (so im told) the greatest MMA Fighter theyve ever seen. Im only 14 and i took my dad ,who is a former marine and very muscular, down. People keep telling methat i need to get into MMA because i know what im doing and i REFUSE to loose. I train hard, i fight easy. I always thought i was stronger, but ever since i discovered MMA, i know now that i was born stronger.

Ever since I was a kid I always loved baseball. My brothers and I would always play. At age 6 I was in a car wreck. Both of my brothers killed. In the hospital I was blind, mute, deff, and paralyzed. Then one day I started gettting back my functions. I was in a wheel chair with a broken leg. The doctor said I would have to go to school in the fall with a walker. I REFUSED. I worked at it and the 1st day of school i walked to the bus. I went through school sports running slow and not very talented. I improved. Then my froshman year in high school i rebroke my leg in football. I worked harder and harder to recove faster. The next year I played baseball and football again. I worked out all year and ran to get faster. Now I am 16 years old, 6' 3" tall, and 200lbs. I have worked extremely hard to get to where I am now.

Josh | 2010-06-18 06:13

I was definatly born stronger. I have always had a natural athletisism. Through grade school i was always pushed to play sports like basketball, soccer, and cross country running. Even though i was a competitor in these sports I never truly enjoyed playing. In highschool i quickly became addicted to fight sports while watching UFC. I had tried to join an MMA gym but foud that it was to expensive for an unemployed teenager, but thats when i found boxing. My family and friends didn't really think that i could handle such a sport seeing that i am only 5'10 and weigh a meer 130lbs. However, I am proud to say that in the last few moths i have been able to keep up and compete with fighters that have been training for years.

I am strong beacause i made myself that way . It was not hereditary , it was not a gift , or a trait. I claimed it and dominated the way of lifstyle one must  have to gain and acomplish the . my strength  came from need , and ambition . I  was one of the smaller kids in school ,  kindergarden. I for my first time left the saftey of my home and went to school, and i experianced what i felt like to be bullied . A third grader came up to me and slammed me against the wall ,for no particular reason. I didnt tell anyone , and hoped he would go away. he didnt he did it every day for a week . so i decided i was through taking the diplomatic way of solving the problem , wich was  avoiding him ,  and took action . the next day he came up to me and pushed me but i pushed back and wen he tried to hit me i stepped in and head butt him straight into the face, as he fell i walked in  and kicked him once in the abdomen and once in the head . Then i told him " never touch me again." thats where it began evry year i took on the toughest kid and came out victorios . It was ironic one of the shortest kids , being the most respected. After the fifth grade i began to work on my phisical strength. throughout  middleschool no one wanted to mess with me . I was a hardcore kid. i never took any martial arts classes but trained myself ,  with my own techniques.  I have a powerful kick and can take on kids who even train in the art of combat. I love to fight beacause its somthing i became great at , and it helps me find my inersel and true self,  what i am ...... I am strong.

for years i was this kid who had i reputation to live up too. my brother was a huge football star who was mvp and team captain every year in high school. but me being this kid who was so overweight and not very athletic oly thought that i was the loser. but at a young age i decided that wasnt okay with me so i made a comitment. i wasnt going to be an 11 year old boy who was 5'6 and 190lbs. so i turned myself into a football player, i had already had a love for the game , playing since i was 8 but i wasnt "the star". mostly because i couldnt run at all. so when i turned 13 in seventh grade my brother had bought a huge weight bench a bunch of dumbells a puching bag and an elyptical. i had a rele good seventh grade season because of my size but i knew that wen high school hits u need strength. so i rele started to use those resources to my advantage. i spent my whole summer and all my time during the year to become a real player but of course after all my preparing and hard work in two a days we go to our first game i get injured in the third quarter and my season is ended. i still stood by my team and worked in physical theorapy for weeks. but when summer hit i almost gave up but i kept working and i showed up to the next seasons two a days better then ever and confident in myself and it payed off more then i expected. i was one of the quickest and strongest kids out there averaging about 3 sacks a game and 9 tackles a game. and had what coach called a beautiful 6 forced fumbles that season. i was feeling great and confident because that was freshman year and i knew i would only get better and now that is summer and im preparing for sophmore year im excited to bring pride as the captain and to have a great defensive year. i am born strong because i fought for 4 years to go from a 5'6 200lbs 11 year old to a 6'1 250lbs 15 year old kid who can bench his own weight and leg press almost 4 times it.

My life was hard from the moment I was born.  Born into a Jehovah Witness family I almost died because my mother refused a blood transfusion.  Then it was seeing my parents get divorce and hell started at 12 from there.  My mother became an alcoholic who married a drunk, abusive, boxer pro wananabe who beat me for the sake of it.  My father was too busy being a playboy and wasn't around unitl after I join the Marine Corps.  I served during Operation Enduring Freedom station in Kuwait on standby for the move into IRAQ.  Got out of the Corps and did what lot of VETS do to adjust to "normal" life and drank.  Met my wife in Brooklyn NY, got married, have two kids, the mortgage, and enough debt to appreciate the AMERICAN DREAM.  Teach self defense to pay for my MMA TRAINING.  Just fought my first MMA fight for the RING OF COMBAT and now I feel I found my true calling...FIGHT!  I've fought all my life in school against bullies, gangs, and just plane shitty people that felt like fighting.   I did Martial Arts thru out my child hood to fill the void and pain.  I lost 50lbs since last June and now i'm going to hit 190 in 8 weeks!  One day my kids will truly understand what preserverance, strength, motivation, honor, courage, commitment, and strong minded means when they see "daddy" fight pro.  I went from almost homelessness 6 years ago after my tour to owning a home a mile from the beach, a great job building parts for military helicopters, teaching good people how to protect themselves, and having an outlet for my anger (MMA).  I'm 30 years old and often people and friends think I'm older than what I am because of the way i carry myself.  LIFE skills gives me that mentality and fortitude to continue at all cost!

from since i could remember i was the strongest and fastest guy in or around my grade. from fourth grade up to 12th i could out run almost anyone in a race. in a 65 yard football all my touchdowns were all around the outside cause i was just that must faster but the ones i had through the middle i would just run over people. in seventh grade i was five foot three and could touch a 10 foot basketball rim but then during a basketball game i tore all my outside ligaments in my right ankle and four weeks later the same on my left but didnt know this until my senior year of high school. i still managed to be pretty fast runnin a high 4.4 fourty for a 5 foot 6 or 7 guy isnt to bad plus at the time weighing 185 that was the end of my 10th grade year and the first football game of my junior year after a 65 yard t.d on my second run i tore my mcl and was out for four games and i lost alot of speed but still managed to be good. as far as being born stronger i power lifted in highschool my first year was 9th grade and placed 6th at regionals and state my 10th grade year i won regionals and lost at state by 10 pounds because i missed a dead lift and my 11 grade first at regionals and 2nd at state because i was on this acutane acne med. and it killed my strengh and my senior year like always i won by about 200 pounds in regionals and at state i won by 100 or so and broke the highschool 181 pound state bench press record on my first attempt. it was 355 and i opened with 360 and then got 370 on my second and got 385 on my third. i looked everywhere on the internet and never found a higher tested un equipted bench record for my age and weight. my highest bench ever is 425 at 205 pounds and squat and deadllift at both 500 that was when i was 180 something.

Hi because im self contious about my body, i am going to use the name stash. So my name is stash im 17 when i was first born my mom gave birth to me in a toilet in an oklahoma bar, a week after my mom left me in a barn in winter then my adopted fauther got word and came to the rescue. He took me back to hutchinson hospital where i had hypothermia and amonia. After i got over that he took me back home. Soon after my mom not knowin i was alive came to his house she said she was missing her child and bill said yeah he's here with me. So my mom and dad lived together for a couple of years on and off ever so often, alway's thinking it was because of me. She finieally got a restraining order against my adopted fauther, taking me away from him i was 7 at the time. She moved me away at the age of 10 i got into gangs and along with that i got associated with act's of unimaginable things from death, to drugs and rap. At the age of 13 my mom tried to murder me she poisend my food, she left the house for weeks at a time with no food in the house, And attacked me 1 but a failed attempt i broke her foot in 5 places. And all because she never approved of me thought i was to skiny, to slow, not strong not like my fauther before me. even though i was 13 at the time he if you would of met him he was 6,4 and around 300 pounds even no sight for sore eyes on a good day. Ive tried to live up to a mark or this man's rep for years by 15 i had spent 8 month's in correctional facility, in there i proved myself to her standards as the best i took steroids got into fight's just to be the best. In the correctional facility i broke a kids facial bone and got sent to solinatiry confinment for 6 month's extra then in there i stabed a kid for food. And then i was sent to jail lock down 24 hours. my court date came my step fauther had finealy came back for me. i was 16 at time im 17 now ive alway's lived up to what other's have wanted it only matter what u wan't and what you deserve. i work hard at school, i plan on being a teacher. Now all my friends at school call me beowulf and i live up to the legend i am strong

Why I am strong:

Why I am strong:
Corey Ambrose | 2010-06-15 23:56

My name is Corey Ambrose. I live in a rural town named Talkeetna, in the middle of nowhere; Alaska. My town is 100 miles north of Anchorage, and has a population of about 1000 people year round. I am 16 years old, 185 pounds, and 6 foot. I am going to be a senior this year, and the youngest one in my grade by a year, due to my parents enrolling me early. I have been playing hockey since I was about 4 years old, for many different teams (ex: youth hockey, high school, and a club travel team). I have always been bigger and stronger than anyone my age. I have an older brother in college, and he is 21. Throughout my whole childhood, him and his friends would pick on me and try and mess with me, but now no one thinks about it because of my size and athleticism. The day I decided to change my body was in 5th grade. I went to a birthday party with a bunch of older friends, and somehow we got around to everyone jumping on the scale. I was 101 pounds, absurd for my age, and my "friends" were relentless in making fun of me.

I started lifting weights my freshman year in high school, when I was 14. I gained 40 pounds on my bench that year, keeping up with my friends that were seniors. The spring of that year, I got introduced to a local martial arts teacher who was just starting. I began training, with three other guys. They were all 17-18, and I was 14, yet I managed to keep up and even surpass my partners in skill. By the end of 2007 summer, I was training 3 days a week and conditioning hard. I continued to lift hard and play hockey for my sophomore year, gaining constantly and getting on all three clubs for my school's weight lifting group. The three clubs consisted of: 225 bench club, 315 squat club, and 20 pull-up club. I was the youngest person to ever get on all three clubs, and only the third person to do it in the school's 30 year history.

This past fall (2009) I decided to really start watching what I ate, and training much harder. All throughout the winter, I ate meticulously and worked out harder than ever. I would go to school an hour early every day except, and work out with my PE coach. All of my lifts skyrocketed, but I was very careful to keep my lifting and cardio balanced. I trained MMA 4-5 days a week, for 3-4 hours a session. I competed in a Judo competition for the first time in February, and won the whole tournament for my division. I lost 5 percent of body fat, and gained massively in my lifts. My bench went from 225 to 275, squats from 315 once to 365 eight reps. I trained to do 100 pushups non-stop, and I have the sit-up record for my school; 145 in 2 minutes. My timed 1600 run went from a 6:32 to a 5:58, and I felt/feel great.

In December of 2009, I decided to broaden my range of experience, and started commuting down to a BJJ gym in Wasilla. It is 60 miles away, and I made the trip twice a week, through horrible Alaskan weather. Just two weeks ago I flew down to Massachusetts to compete in a NAGA (North American Grappling Association) BJJ tournament. I had never competed in BJJ before, but showed up and signed up for the intermediate teen (16-17) class. I easily won all of my matches in both gi and nogi classes, going against people up to 40 pounds heavier. Kip Kollar personally congratulated me on my successes and recommended that I compete in the expert division when the chance next arrives. I am not old enough yet to compete in MMA, and it has been a very tedious wait. I am staying very motivated, and will be returning to Alaska on the 16th. I will be training 6 days a week, as well as breaking in the gym that I recently set up in my house. I used my own money to buy a bench press, squat rack, preacher curl rack, pull-up machine, and several other things.

That is why I AM STRONGER. A combination of a strict work-ethic, and a natural ability to excel in contact sports. Thank you very much.

I'm from a small town in Texas called Princeton. I was a starting varsity inside linebacker for the football team and a starting varsity shortstop for the baseball team. I wasn't really of great physical fitness and I wasn't really athletically gifted I was just lucky my town was so small that we only had one team for each sport. I was actually somebody who got picked on because of my last name and no matter what i did or said I still got messed with. I tore my ACL during a football game my sophmore year. I thought i would never play sports again. As i was doing rehabilitation I met some guys who did Mixed Martial Arts. I went home not really knowing what that was until i saw it on tv. I fell in love with it right then and there. I started doing MMA workouts and training exercises throughout my recovery and the doctor said my knee was stronger than it was before. I started fighting in little fights that we put together at school and I proved myself to everbody by knocking out one of my bullies.I realized that I was actually good at MMA. I now fight in tournaments in Dallas and I think i found my calling in life. I was born stronger because I overcame a sports career ending injury and became a bigger, faster, stronger athlete than i could have ever dreamed. I went from being an average football and baseball player that had average stats in the weight room to being somebody that can bench 295 and squat 670 with a rebuilt knee. I truely was BORN STRONGER!

Jeffrey Johnson | 2010-06-15 22:44

I was born in Worcester, Massachusetts. At the age of 7 my parents got a divorce and had a heated custody struggle. In the end both were declared unfit parents and I went to live with my grandmother. This pushed my mother over the edge and she committed suicide.   My Father also died 12 years later , skin cancer did the job him. Those were tough to endure but I remained strong. Later on my grandmother, the one who raised me all by herself, got sick and died when I was 16, causing me to move to California to live with and unknown uncle. At first it was great living with him ,but as soon as I turned 18 ,and my Father didnt have to pay money anymore ,my uncle kicked me out. I was almost homeless. My friends parents took me in and I lived there for 2 years. It was a huge blessing.
Moving along to just this past year I had complete organ failure and was told I was going to time. Suffices to say that I didnt ,but 8 surgeries later I still carry the scares and the memories of that. I consider myself strong for enduring all that life has thrown at me and still marching onward.

I started out playing baseball since I was 5. I played on all-star teams and AAU travel teams all the time, sometimes I played on 3 teams at one time. But in 7th grade I turned on the tv and saw guy going at it in a fight. I later found out that it was the UFC. I was amazed by the sport and knew i had to do it. I had always been stonger and faster than everyone in my grade so I knew that this was a sport for me. So in 8th grade I started training in muay thai and american jiu-jitsu, I am almost an expert in both martial arts. And right now I am 16 and going into the 11th grade. I am 5'11" 170 pounds, And I can one rep max 285 in bench press and can bench 115 pound dumb bells about 8-10 times. I plan on starting amatuer MMA fights as soon as I turn 18 in the light weight or welter weight division. I consider myself born stronger because all the upperclassmen fear me and nobody wants to mess with me. Butt I also start at outside linbacker for my school and I am 2nd string running back for varsity football and start catcher for my varsity baseball team.

Mike Houle | 2010-06-14 21:54

I was born stronger....not just physically, but mentally. I didn't realize my physical strength until 8th grade, when I startred lifting for football. In my freshman year of High School, I was 5'10" 215 pounds. After football season ended I started playing hockey 5 days a week with 2 different teams for an hour and a half each. In 3 months I grew to 6'0" 170 lbs. It was at this time I started lifting and really working hard to make the High School hockey team. This is where the mental strength comes in. I was cut every year from the hockey team, yet continued to push on and work hard in the gym and pound out miles on the pavement in hopes of bettering myself for the next season. This year, my senior year of High School, I stopped playing hockey and set my sights on triathlons. This training has tested my mental and physical toughness. After swimming and miles of biking, the last thing you want to do is run, but you have to push through that road block and keep trucking. My name is MIke Houle, I'm 17 years old, i'm 6'2" and weigh 205 lbs, and I was born stronger.

Growing up I was never an athletic kid. My dad always got home late and left early so I didnt have a lot of father-son teaching. When 7th grade rolled around, I was a short and chubby kid with braces that had to wear a special mouthpiece in football. Mid season of my first year, we were down and I asked the coach to put me in, that moment changed it all for me. I started playing and playing well, I didnt stop till I hung up my kleets on my own. Through high school I ran track, lifted weights continually, and maintained an active life. When I was 19 I started studying and training Mixed Martial Arts and found a new passion and purpose in physical fitness. This last year (when I was 20) I tore my acl  and had to go through reconstructive surgery. The week before surgery, my girlfriend of 4 years and high school sweetheart broke up with me and was with another guy within two weeks. During surgery I was completely immobile and bed ridden. The doctors told me that I would be on crutches for two weeks....I was walking on my own in 5 days. They said that I would not be able to to hit the gym for months...I was back in 2 weeks. Last night I rolled with a few buddies and was able to tap each of them out 3 times in under a minute. Truth is...I have always thought I was strong willed and strong minded. But I never understood valiancy in the form of perserverence until I was brought to brokeness and required to fight for what I love to do. I must give this disclaimer though...It is God who strenghens and inspires me to be great, I just answer the call. I want this, not to be a testiment of my own strength, but rather the strength that lives inside me that I choose to respond to. T-shirt or not, I hope this inspires someone. Thank You.

I am a normal teenage boy who moved to Illinois very recently.  In Illinois, the track runners are alot faster then in any other state because of so many farms that kids live on.  So alot more talent and faster people.  I had to run and weight lift as much as i could if i wanted to be faster then anyone else.  For the last 2 years i have been doing thiis and it finally paid off as i was the conference champion as a freshman in high school for the 400m dash.  I still have 3 years of high school left and i plan on winning state as a junior and senior.  i was born stronger.

Im Alex Resto I just turned 14, from connecticut, and I was born strong mentally and physically. Growing up my father was big on brazilian jiu jitsu, and he was definately great in submissions, so we did nothing but sparring on our free time. i started taking karate, after i felt the need to gain the knowledge of all styles so i started i kept taking ju dou, taekwondo and so on. I have always been athletic i played baseball, basketball, soccer, football, and track. In school I had my enemies would think i was a coward since would'nt fight them and it was continuos, when i was about ten my mom abused by my father and when i found out that's when I started to push my self even more sometimes too much. At this moment i am training in mma which is my dream. Every time I get complimented I have to thank my sensei for being like a dad to me. My buddies are afraid of me when sparring, because i have a great ammount of agility, streingth, and other advantages. It would be such an honor to be chosen as the winner of this contest, and thank you for reading how I was born strong.

David Leal | 2010-06-14 09:53

My name is David Leal and i am a high school wrestler. I will not lie and say that ive been strong since birth and was never beaten in a fight because that would be a lie. Before i tell you my full story i must let you know i am mexican and part apache indian. I lived my childhood on the indian resevation learning about my heritage. The apaches are considered to be some of the deadliest warriors in history and I have become skilled with a bow and arrow and above all else, basic wrestling. I love wrestling. I love it because not only in matches do i fight people my size but because the strongest guy doesnt always win. Also, when i was in elementry i use to be weak. I was okay in fighting i guess but when i joined football. I was put down alot. the only coach that belived in me was the head coach coach jones. I trained everyday after school until i became strong. I wasn't buff but i could lift 150% of my body weight. I was determined to prove to everybody. Two years of practice and long hours of pain and self sacrifice I use some of the Apache indian wrestling today in my wrestling matches AND i am also captian of the wrestling team. The aggresiveness and fighting spirit of the Apche lives within me, thats why i will never give up in a fight and why i was born stronger.

Athlete that isnt Athletic

Athlete that isnt Athletic
Eugene J. Vivelo | 2010-06-14 08:23

As a kid I was always the slowest when running for football around the field or running laps around the gym for basketball. I was usually a passive aggressive kid on the football field. Never wanted to hurt anyone. Then I moved to a small town in Indiana called Seymour. I was introduced into wrestling in the seventh grade. Again never an athlete I worked and trained as hard as I could and got a "varsity" spot.(I dont think middle school should be called varsity)  After that my football coaches saw a fire in my game and I turned into a hard hitting out for blood player that didnt care if he wasnt athletic and was going to hit you till you didnt want to get up. I then started to devote all my time to be on a wrestling mat and my eighth grade year of middle school finished 14-1 (I beat the one kid who beat me at end of year) I made varisty line up freshman year and have been there since. coach saw my determination not to lose and give up like a few of our wrestlers. I now wrestle all year round and am training to become a mixed martial artist. I am rolling around with semi pro fighters to make me better and push me for this years season. I now do not settle for anything less than being perfect and plan to train in martial arts and wrestling for rest of my life and help with our youth program to help bring up our wrestling program. This is why I am strong, born strong from heart not from athleticism.

I was born with a rare vitamin D defficiency called - Hypophosphatemic Rickets. Something that makes my bones week and can create lots of pain. I currentley at 16 take 13 pills a day of 2 different kinds of meds, and a vitamin d every other week. I was homeschooled for several years and went back to school a little while ago, not to sure what to expect. Of course with my disease it makes people stare and taunt. My school doesn't have many fights, but a lot of taunting and teasing/ joking can take place. I live with this disease but i don't complain, i've learned to rise above pain and allow myself to keep pressing on. I have started lifting and excersising. I can throw a football really well, but have trouble moving on my feet. (A good boxer can always be light on his/her feet) I've started practicing on my punching bag and started grappeling with my friends. My hero is my dad, who served in Desert Storm and Desert Shield and has several awards for his Military/Marine services.  As I write this i am wearing the scars of my last surgery which plates and screws were removed from my legs. I still find no complaint even as my last surgery made me sit inside of a wheelchair for several months. I would watch as the kids would ride their bikes and run by. I strived and to add to my strong mental state of mind I am becoming phisically stronger. I let nothing stop me. My brother, who is in the National guard has shown me some of the moves that he had accuired from training and even as he had me squared away in a choke hold i did not tap. Awhile before that a kid placed me in the guillotine and i tapped, struggling to take him down. But now i've learned how to harness my power and not give up. And you better believe that once I am healed i will return to doing what i love - Working out, Riding bikes, swimming - sparring - bowling - sparring/grappeling with friends and striving everyday to be STRONG!

Bigger Faster Stronger

Bigger Faster Stronger

I never was the biggest, the fastest or the strongest.  I never found my sport growing up. I started with swimming, to basketball, baseball, football, then lacrosse.  In middle school i was known as the skinny goofball.  I went along with it but deep down anyone would hate it.  Especially being called a "starving African."  The worst part is that I'm not even African, but Iranian.  Iranian's have never really been known as being star athletes.  Our one major Olympian has been a weight lifter, and that's about it.
The one thing I always knew was that I was fast.  Not just fast, but faster than the rest.  As a freshman in high school I started to notice this when I would go up against the seniors during conditioning in the sprinting drills.  And I would tend to win.  I thought I had found my niche.  Right then and there I quit lacrosse and joined the Track & Field team.  I loved it from the start.  I had a great coach who saw a world of potential in me, and a group of senior captains who couldn't have welcomed me any better.  I loved it.  As a first time runner I was fast enough to run with the captains, and even beat them from time to time.  Practice was great, but when meets came around, I wouldn't.  My first meet I ran my first race and finished 3rd.  After, someone from the team came up to me and told me that one of the runners from the "A-Team" was injured and asked if I could take their spot.  As you can already guess, I accepted.  But before this big race, I had one 200m race to go.  I barely finished.  With 50m left in the race, in first place, I literally tore my iliopsoas tendon in my hip.  I walked to the finish line.  As for being on the A-Team, some junior took my spot.  I didn't stick around to watch the race.
Time passed and my hip healed.  But my coach wanted me to have a comeback.  He wanted me to return as an 800m runner.  In the track world, the 800m is better known as death.  I trained with the sprinters three times a week, and twice a week with the distance runners.  Three days into distance training, and i re-tore my tendon.  I didn't know the distance coach very well, and she's what we on the team call a "fastist."  She only cares about the people who are fast, and seeing as how she didn't even know me, she couldn't have cared less.  It hit my sprint coach pretty hard, and that same year he left me for another team.  Years passed and I was never able to run like I used to.  I went through dozens of sports doctors and physical therapists, but the psychological pain was worse than the physical pain.  It hurt the most remembering the day my old coach came up to me and said, "If you stick with me, you can probably go D-I."  I gave up.
There was nothing left for me to do but go to the gym and lift weights.  In one summer I gained ten pounds, and went from benching 135 to 215.  I was no longer a "starving African," but I hated it too, for I was useless.  Time passed and I began to do nothing with my life.  I didn't care, but after a while it started to get to me.  I thought what better than to start with a blank slate and be what I've always wanted to be most; a swimmer.  I hadn't competitively swam on a team since i was 7 years old in 1999.  I got myself a swim cap, goggles, and a pair of golden jammers and got to it.  I'd build up until I was swimming roughly a mile a day, 5 days a week.  But this was January, and swimming didn't start until summer, so I needed something to do.  I loved swimming, and I was an ex-track star.  So what could I do with this?  I did what anyone would do, pick up cycling and become a triathlete.  So I did just that.  I kept to my swimming schedule, but would interchange running and biking every other day.  This was after I bought myself a considerably cheap road bike off of Craigslist, of course.  The race I signed up for was The Greensboro Triathlon, to be taken place on May 23, 2010 in Greensboro, North Carolina.  After roughly 4 months of training as a novice, the time came, and I had never been more scared of anything in my life.  My legs were shaking as the lady with the marker wrote my number on my lower front thigh.  I was most confident about the swim.  I had been swimming for months in considerably cold water.  I was one of few people wearing only jammers.  As we waited in the water for the horn to sound, everyone around me in wetsuits was shivering, as I stood there in my jammers, like a brick wall, already feeling like a champion.  Out of roughly 300 people, I finished with the 52nd best swim time, and won 1st place in my age group of 15-19.
All my life, I knew I was a better athlete than most, but I just never found my niche.  I spent years watching soccer games and track meets thinking it could be me out there.  I don't care anymore.  For once in my life, I trained for something with all my heart and accomplished my goal.  Words can not describe the feeling I got when I walked up in front of a crowd of people and received my first place prize and heard the applause.  It was my first, and I can guarantee you it certainly won't be my last.  Summer is now here and swim season has begun.  I won't go down without a fight.  During training, only two words kept me going; "Don't stop."  I will never stop achieving my goals.  At least not in this life time.

I AM STRONG!

I am a strong girl... and everyone knows it.

I've always been stronger then most, even stronger than some boys! But I wasn't in the best of shape all around. So, one summer I made a serious change, I went to the gym everyday and started mixed martial arts training. Since I was a little girl, because I was so strong; my dad got me into mixed martial arts, one summer, and of course I still am into it, it's my favorite thing to do! Now I want to be a professional mixed martial artist and be a great champion one day; that's my goal/dream in life. I got even stronger that summer, I was naturally strong but working out and training made it even better. I still am and always will be, I work out everday and go to the mixed martial arts gym for classes, it's Marcus Davis's Gym in Brewer, Maine "Team Irish". I always was into sports, but I wasn't "athletic". I always played basketball in middle school, but I wasn't a player, I was a bench warmer. I quit basketball in 8th grade because it wasn't what I wanted to do. That summer before freshmen year in high school, I got better, faster, stronger. Now, I do grappling, boxing, muay thai, and I wrestle for my high school. I am now a sophmore and I plan to wrestle, train, and work out everyday for the rest of my life, and be a great mixed martial arts champion. My wrestling season got cut short freshmen year because a senior wrestler in the 140lb weight class broke my collar bone in a match, the thing was, I kept wrestling for another 2 - 3 minutes ( he broke it in the first two minutes because he had took me down and I went to go stand back up and he grabbed my sholders from behind and slamed me to the ground on my left collar bone, that's when I heard the snap, and saw it too, but the bone didn't break the skin, but popped out and was visible through the skin." and I didn't shed one tear, not one. That didn't scare me one bit, it makes me want me to get reveange on the high school that did it, and become a better, stronger, and smarter wrestler! I want to get reveange on his wrestling friends! I am not only stronger physically, but mentally. That is why I was born stronger. That's my story, and still being written.

I was born in a small town in ohio. in this town i grew up being bullied, so i joined the youth wrestling team. this helped me defend myself untill they got much bigger than me. I am 14 and im only 5'4" and about 125 lbs. so compared to everyone else im pretty small. so they started bullieing me again and i had no choice but to learn a way to fight back. I decided to start watching profesional mma, which is where i learned all of my fighting techniques and submissions. I am now training in MMA to become a professional fighter. All my training buddies call me "Predator" because i use my speed and agility along with my grip to pick a certain part of the body and i then just rip it apart so that you are forced to tap-out. I have had 10 Facility Fights, which are fights against your partners kinda like sparring, and i won all but one. I dont think i was born stronger. I know i had to work for what i have. So i would be honored if you considered me to win this contest.
