Video of Olympic swimmer who can barely swim.

There's no doubt you've heard of Olympic swimmers Michael Phelps, Ian "Thropedo" Thorpe, and Mark Spitz. But you could be forgiven if you've never heard of Eric "the Eel" Moussambani.

Eric "the Eel" had never even seen an Olympic sized swimming pool before traveling to Sydney for the 200 Olympics. In fact, he began swimming only eight months before the Olympics began and only practiced in a 20 meter hotel pool in his native country of Equitorial Guinea. But due to a new rule that encourages developing nations to participate in the Games, Moussambani was able to participate in Sydney.

In his only heat, he had only reached the turning point when his rivals had finished their swim. Looking like an eel out of water, and gasping for breath, Moussambi finished the race through sheer determination. His time of 1 minute 52.72 seconds was more than twice the time it took the other athletes in the race. Yet no one remembers them.Moussambani showed the world what the Olympic spirit was all about and one of the Games brightest stars was born.
