Swimmer Won't Let Paralysis Stand In Her Way

Paralyzed swimmer gunning for 2012 Paralympics.

Mallory Weggemann started experiencing severe lower back pain about three years ago in high school after a severe case of the shingles. Three rounds of epidural injections brought some relief but eventually her legs starting going numb. Three weeks later her doctor told her she was paralyzed from the waist down.

In April 2008 one of her sisters took her to the University of Minnesota to watch the trials for that year's paralympic games.

Afterward she was so moved by what she saw, she dedicated her life to making the 2012 Olympics.

It's a truly amazing story. Mallory Weggemann is truly BORN STRONGER!
