Wounded Warrior Games Begin In Colorado Springs

Opening ceremony for Wounded Warrior Games begin.

Yesterday, the United States Paralympics and Department of Defense held the opening ceremony for the 2011 Wounded Warrior Games yesterday in Colorado Springs, CO.

According to this article, more than 200 wounded, ill or injured service members are scheduled to compete in the Paralympic-style competition May 16-21.

Sgt. Salvatore Giunta was selected as the torchbearer for the Games. Giunta was recently awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions in Afghanistan. He is the first living recipient of the Medal of Honor since the Vietnam War.

These athletes have overcome tremendous obstacles. They are all BORN STRONGER!
