Interview with Frank Alogna. Ammy MMA fighter.

For part 27 of our ongoing interview series with amateur MMA fighters, coaches and trainers we spoke with Frank Alogna. Frank fights out of Scranton, PA.

Q: What is your current record? Any fights coming up soon?

Currently I'm 1-1. I will hopefully get another fight in July!

Q: At what point in your life did you realize you wanted to become a competitive Mixed Martial Artist?

As a child I was always into pro wrestling and karate, and didn’t even know what MMA was. It wasn’t until I went to Gracie NEPA/ Scranton MMA I even knew what Mixed Martial Arts was. After training for a year I realized that I always want this sport in my life.

Q: Have there been any challenges in your life that you’ve had to overcome in order to get where you are today?

The passing of my grandparents was the hardest thing of my life. They lived with me my whole life. When they passed it was really hard.

Q: Is there a current MMA star you like to pattern yourself after?

There are many fighters I would like to take from. Anderson's movement, Shogun's power, Maia's BJJ, etc...

Q: Where do you train? Care to make a shout out to any of your instructors or training partners?

Scranton MMA. I would like to make a shout out to Joe Alogna, Jeff Reese, Tom McGuire, Matt Marcinek , Steve Polito, and Tyler Calvey. Plus everyone who helped me get to where I am today.

Q: Has your fighting style evolved since you began training or have you stuck with a specific style throughout?

Lately I have been very well rounded. Before I was just a grappler and now I feel like I’m a well-rounded fighter.

Q: Is there anyone you would like to thank for helping you get to where you are?

Everyone who was ever part of my life for good or bad. Because everything that happened to me got me to where I am today.

Q: What advice would you give to other people looking to get into MMA, or any
competitive sport, for that matter?

It's a hard road to go down. It wont be easy, but if you train hard enough you
will get there.
