The Olympic Athlete. Born Stronger.Posted by danb The other night as I watched the Olympic opening ceremony in Vancouver, it occured to me how far we've come along as both athletes and global citizens. Perhaps what impacts me most is how for a few weeks in the biting Canadian cold, that thousands of athletes and millions of fans from some 200 countries come together to compete and cheer for their country and their teams. All in hopes of winning. Nearly every country or homeland in the world competes every four years in the Olympics. That's astounding. And that's community. And the bringing together of humanity like no other event in the world. To aspire, dream and focus on goals is the spirit of Born Stronger. For most athletes, competing in the Olympics is the realization of a lifelong dream. Something earned through determination, training and the belief in oneself. We are all Born Stronger. And we are all potential Olympic athletes in our own way.
But you don't need to be an Olympic athlete to live and compete with the spirit of those in Vancouver. No. Each of us has our own goals and dreams. Sometimes not related to athletics at all. You see, deep inside each of us rests the potential and the desire to unleash that potential and give us the power to believe, go for it and realize our dreams. And we can. Because we are all Born Stronger. And we all want to be the best we can. Imagine if the unity and camaraderie that brings 10,000 athletes and millions of fans together every four years could be harnessed and unleashed to solve any or all of the problems that plague humanity. We can. Because we are Born Stronger. You are too.
